Hover vase

As one of the 10 finalists of the Villa Noailles Design Parade 8 I was asked to participate in a competition designing a vase.
My project contains two elements: a container for the water and a ring to fix the flower stems. The connection between the main elements is a powder coated green wire. Thanks to its color and size it is hardly recognizable between the flower stems and creates a visual illusion: the top part seems to be floating in the air.
Observing the visitors of the Design Parade proved this illusion to work very well.

‘Hover vase’ has been acquired by the Centraal Museum Utrecht (Netherlands) for their permanent collection.
